Serena Williams retires from tennis after 27 years


Professional Tennis player, Serena Williams has bowed out of tennis on 2nd September, 2022 after her last game in the US opening.

Serena played tennis professionally for 27 years from 1995 to 2022. She hinted of her retirement in August 2022 and has finally left the scene in September 2022.

With so much energy and constant wins match after match in 27 years, Serena’s career has come to a close.  She climaxed her career as the highest ranked female athlete and world best female tennis player.

Throughout her career, Serena Williams has won 4 times Olympic gold titles, 23 Grand Slam singles titles, 14 Grand Slam doubles titles. Serena became the Only tennis player to achieve the career Golden Slam in both singles and doubles. She was also the Joint longest run as the No. 1-ranked female player.

Her retirement has got a lot of fans emotional especially during the last moments where she gave her retirement speech and so many sports lovers have congratulated her.

Serena Williams has shown the world that one can be good at whatever the mind is put to with persistent training.
